SWEDISH MASSAGE
by Lisa Ferguson, RMT

Do you spend hours sitting at a desk at work? Do you feel as though you live in your car? Perhaps you have a physical job with a lot of walking or heavy lifting? Chances are you’re feeling the stress of everyday life on your body. A Swedish massage with a Ste. Anne’s Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) is just what you need to soothe those sore, stiff muscles.

All RMT's in Ontario are trained in Swedish massage, as this is the most common type of massage. Ste. Anne's massages are therapeutic in nature and are performed according to your individual needs. Your RMT will begin by discussing your health history with you in order to customize the treatment to your specific needs. An essential oil of pure plant and flower extracts is then chosen by you to use during the massage. Once you are on the massage table, your therapist will drape the area of your body that is to be treated next, in a professional and discreet manner. Modifications can be made at any time to ensure your comfort throughout the treatment. Your RMT will then massage the areas that you have given consent to treat, with a pressure with which you are comfortable. The Massage Therapist gears the treatment to your preference so your feedback is important. Muscle tension, pain and stress are then reduced by the skilled hands of your therapist.

Swedish Massage Benefits:

  • Stimulation, blood and lymphatic circulation
  • Decreased muscle pain and tension
  • Increased mobility and flexibility of the joints and muscles
